Facelift

A face lift (or rhytidectomy) is not meant to stop the aging process but rather help turn back the clock a few years. Over time, the effects of sun exposure, gravity, and the natural aging process can cause can deep creases between the nose and mouth, loose or sagging skin, and fat folds along the neck and jaw line. A facelift is meant to tighten the skin and muscle in these areas.  Be careful of so-called “mini-facelifts”, “lunchtime facelifts”, “contour thread lift”, and other so-called quick face lifts as this process tightens the skin, but does very little to address the underlying facial muscles, not always suitable for many patients.  Imagine pulling a table cloth tightly over an uneven dinner table, and you get the idea.

Sometimes, you can achieve more desired results by having a facelift in conjunction with another procedure, such as a forehead lift, eyelid surgery, or nose reshaping. While this surgery can be done on people well into their seventies and eighties, most patients are in their 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s.  The best candidates are those patients with sagging skin but relatively good bone structure and elasticity in their skin.

Face lifts are considered among the most challenging and intricate of cosmetic surgery procedures.  Whereas other procedures can be covered by clothing most of the time, you’ll not likely cover your face.  For this reason, My Cosmetic Surgery Advisor strongly urges the utmost care in selecting a trained and experienced facial cosmetic surgeon.

A partial facelift will require several hours of surgery time, and costs typically at least $10,000 plus.  A full face lift involving multiple, intricate procedures will require upwards of a full day of surgery, and total costs will readily exceed $20,000.  Recovery time is anywhere from three to eight weeks. For more information, please contact an Advisor at MCSA.
