Los Angeles Breast Enhancement

Women all over the world and all walks of life are fascinated by the idea of having large, sexy breasts. In the world of Los Angeles breast enhancement, one size does not fit all. Some ladies walk into a plastic surgeon’s office with a photo of Pamela Anderson, while others just want one cup size bigger. The size of the breast enhancement is generally up to the preference of the patient, subject to if the surgeon believes he/she can stretch the skin enough to accommodate the breast implante. However, there are some surgeons who may or may not refuse to enlarge a woman’s breast to an extra large size. A breast enhancement can increase a woman’s self esteem in more ways than one.

When considering breast enhancement in Los Angeles, It is important to search for and understand all of the various options. There are three different choices one needs to think about. Now that silicone has been FDA approved again, a woman can choose between silicone or saline. Saline implants have a silicone rubber shell that is inflated to the desired size with sterile saline. Most implants have a valve that is sealable by the surgeon. There are two types of saline implant, a fixed volume implant and an adjustable volume implant. The latter has the potential for postoperative adjustment. On the other hand, Silicone implants have a silicone rubber shell that is filled with a fixed amount of silicone gel. Each implant has a patch that covers the manufacturing port of the implant. In the early 1990’s it was reported that silicone implants were responsible for connective tissue diseases in some women. After much research and investigation, the Food and Drug Administration determined silicone to be safe and not be responsible for connective tissue disease, and has approved the use of silicone implants again.

Besides the type of implant a patient desires, it is important to determine what mode of entry is best. There are several different approaches inserting the implants. One can choose to have the incision under the breast, around the nipple, in the underarm, or through the navel. The most common incision is under the breast. Women sometimes opt for the incision around the nipple, but there is a small chance that one can lose her nipple sensation due to that technique. The TUBA approach is a technique where the physicians makes the incision in the belly button and guides the implants up to the chest cavity. While this procedure leaves the least amount of scarring, few doctors will use this method as it carries the highest risk of complications and cannot be used with silicone implants. It’s important to speak with your doctor about the different types and methods that he or she thinks is suited for you.

As always, it is important to do your research and background checks on surgeons. In searching for a doctor, make sure you ask if he or she is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. For assistance in finding a doctor or questions regarding particular procedures, please contact an MCSA Advisor.
